Pets, Especially Dog Adoption, is Increasing Due to the Coronavirus
During the coronavirus we have seen where many shelters, due to employee and volunteer shortage are suspending or restricting pet adoption.
“In California, where a shelter-in-place order is in effect, needy animals are pouring into rescue centers even as adoption programs are temporarily halted,” said Karalyn Aronow, Vice President of Operations at the East Bay SPCA. Reported by the New York Post recently.
With the ongoing prospect of self-isolation, many people are turning to their local shelter and rescue organizations to adopt a companion. Being that we are facing an indeterminate number of days and possibly weeks in self-isolation, adopting a pet makes sense.
“As schools close and millions of people across the United States work from home, the promise of companionship even in a time of isolation is prompting some to take in animals. Many say they finally have the time to properly train and care for a new pet. Animal rescuers across the country say they are seeing spiking interest in adoption and fostering, as well as offers to help everywhere from open-admission shelters to smaller nonprofit groups.” per the Washington Post article.
Self-isolation allows us to have the time we didn’t previously have that’s beneficial to being a new pet owner. Instead of waiting for unused vacation time, many new adopters are using the quarantine as the chance to really get to bond with a new dog without any distractions.

Thank you for your comment. I’m going to expand on my videos to present real time interactions with the extremely dangerous dogs I have in my rescue org. My primary focus is painstakingly explaining behavioral structures in real time, relational dependencies and alienations. Essentially, explaining structure of consciousness in the behaviors of dogs. (I’m most well known for downtraining and stabilizing extremely dangerous dogs without needing anything at all (no treats, meds, training aids, etc…)). BTW…CBD Oil is excellent and when I used it for my beloved Nero…it literally gave him 2 extra years of life without pain and the ability to walk instead of hobbling! I recommend it as maintenance for health and longevity. Just wonderful, natural health in a bottle!

“Arf”ticle should have emphasized foster owners, not permanent owners. After this virus fiasco is over those so-called “owners” who got a dog on a whim will be discarding it and the cycle continues.
This is great news as pets deserve a loving home. My only fear is that, once the coronavirus crisis is over, and people go back to their normal lives, they will just feel they no longer have time or space to take care of the pets they have recently adopted and dump them again….which will be just cruel for these innocent creatures….
I really hope that people do it out of love, not just because they are sitting home these days… And they need to understand that pets are for a life, not just temporary! So while I am very happy that adoption is now has a great increase, I am concerned about people’s understanding of their responsibilities. I think this has to be emphasized more!
I find that this is not a good reason to take on any animal what happens this is finished are the snimslx going to be handed back in of left al day while the person goes to work
