Great Danes For Adoption

Great Danes. The Apollo Of Dogs.

We work with several national and international Great Dane rescue organizations, including the largest Great Dane rescue in North America. We work with various breed rescues that pull from shelters and have owner-surrenders. We believe that the opportunity to give an unwanted dog a home is important. We believe giant breeds, such as Great Danes are at extreme risk because their significant size makes them the first to be killed in shelters due to lack of space and cost of feeding and vet care.

We are starting to bring in Great Danes that have good social temperament. They will be noted on this page’s drop down links. These Great Dane rescues fit in with people and other dogs. Most are good with children but due to the size of a Great Dane, we will consider homes with small children on a case-by-base basis only (with 100+ lbs dogs, children can be accidentally knocked down).

When considering a Great Dane, know that they can weigh from 100 lbs to 200 lbs. They eat a LOT. Their medical costs can be 2 – 4 times more than a small dog. Pet insurance is STRONGLY encouraged and premiums start about $80 per month plus GST. Costco has an excellent pet insurance provider and is about 10% – 14% cheaper than other insurers.

Our Rescues Are On Raw Diets

Nero Tsai the Great Dane was adopted at age 10 years 4 months old
He has been on a raw diet since arrival.
Nero turned 13 years 5 months old in April 2019

While in foster care or in-house rehab in our rescue, unless noted, every dog is provided an excellent raw diet consisting of beef (from Surrey Meat Packers/Krudos) and Grade A chicken carcasses from our wholesale restaurant supplier. James’ personal dogs consume between 200 – 300 lbs monthly. Preference will be given to homes that feed raw. When the cost of medical issues, teeth cleaning and ‘kibble poop’ is calculated, we have found the raw diet to cost comparably to a kibble diet.

We gladly extend our pricing on chicken carcasses ($1.09/lb) to all our adopters. Non-adopters can purchase chicken carcasses at $1.39/lb. Plus GST. Minimum 25 lbs. Orders are taken 1 – 2 times a month. Though our chicken is Grade A, we must state “Chicken is sold as DOG FOOD ONLY and is NOT FOR HUMAN USE”.

Grade A, restaurant quality raw beef bones are fresh. They are $2.50 for 1 piece. $10 for 5. Plus GST. Though our beef bones are Grade A, we must state “BEEF BONES are sold as DOG FOOD ONLY and is NOT FOR HUMAN USE”.
